The Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) is set to conduct regional meeting scheduled for October 27–31, 2026, in Macau. This meeting is organized by FABC-OSC- Office of Social Communication.
The Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) is a voluntary association of episcopal conferences in Asia, established with the approval of the Holy See. Its purpose is to foster among its members solidarity and co-responsibility for the welfare of Church and society in Asia. The decisions of the Federation are without juridical binding force; their acceptance is an expression of collegial responsibility. The conference includes sixteen (or nineteen) Bishops' Conferences from Bangladesh, India (both the CBCI and the individual conferences of the Syro-Malabar, Syro-Malankara and Roman Rites), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos–Cambodia, Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan (RoC), Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam and collective Bishops' Conference of Central Asia. The Catholic Diocese of Macau is considered as FABS’s associate member together with the Diocese of Hong Kong, Mongolia, Nepal and Novosibirsk (Russia).
Founded in 1970, the FABC was due to mark its 50th anniversary in 2020, but the celebration was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the 50th anniversary of the FABC was celebrated at Baan Phu Wan Pastoral Center, Archdiocese of Bangkok, Thailand, on October 12, 2022.
The current head of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) is Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao, who was elected as the President on February 22, 2025. He succeeded Cardinal Charles Muang Bo, the Head of the Catholic Church in Myanmar. Cardinal Ferrao is also the President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and has been involved in various other significant roles within the Catholic Church.
